When you hear but you don't listen...
Today my husband was giving amazing fatherly advice to our children. It was something I had never heard before but was priceless. He said when someone tells you something you have already heard, just listen anyway. He said "don't interrupt and listen intently". He was teaching our children to listen. We often think our opinion or knowledge has to be heard. Restrain yourself from disagreeing. Give up the right to be right. Use wisdom as to whether you should give advice or talk about your own experience. The quieter you become, the more you can hear. As a photographer, I find out what are your insecurities (smile, weight, eyes). Let's face it...we all have them when taking a picture. My eyes are slanty so I always try to open them wide in pictures. Learning to listen has proven to be a great strength when shooting the perfect session. It's a lesson that can carry over into all aspects of our lives.
